The Bajaj Dominar 400 is set to surpass its own record of conquering the world’s toughest journey, the Trans-Siberian Odyssey, as the company now plans to overcome the Arctic and Antarctic regions through the Bajaj Dominar Polar Odyssey.
The Bajaj Dominar Polar Odyssey is taken by three accomplished riders - Deepak Kamath, Avinash PS, and Deepak Gupta. Of the three, Mr. Deepak Kamath was part of the Dominar Trans-Siberian Odyssey as well. Avinash PS is a mechanical engineer by profession and an avid photographer and motorcyclist by passion, while Deepak Gupta is an active member of the Group Of Delhi Super bikers (GODS). Through the Dominar Polar Odyssey, the riders will cover the entire length and breadth of North and South America from the Arctic to Antarctic regions, without any support teams.
The Dominar Polar Odyssey will commence from Anchorage, Alaska to Tuktoyaktuk, Canada in the Arctic Circle, and then all the way down to Ushuaia, Argentina by the Antarctic Circle. The Dominar Polar Odyssey will span four months, and the riders will cover over 50,000 km across 18 countries in North, Central and South America. The rider will have to roughly cover over 450 km per day without any backup team or dedicated service support across the terrains and climatic conditions.
The Bajaj Dominar Polar Odyssey will take the riders from the long-distance and ice-pack highways of Canada, USA, and Mexico, to the dirt tracks and tropical river-beds of Central America. The rider will further pass through the Amazon Forest and River basin in Brazil, to the gravel tracks of the Atacama Desert and the high altitude passes of the Andean highlands. The journey will finally follow into the majestic open grasslands of the Argentinian Pampas. According to Bajaj Auto, the Dominar Polar Odyssey will cover four of the world’s toughest roads mentioned below.
- Dempster Highway– Arctic Circle, Canada
- James Dalton Highway – Arctic Circle, USA
- North Yungas Road (Road of Death), Bolivia
- Atacama Desert, Chile
The Bajaj Dominar 400's used on this journey has received a few modifications, which include Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR off-road tires, and front beak fender, side mounted jerry cans, luggage panniers and top box with saddle stays, modified seats, knuckle guards, and a high-set windshield. As a reminder, the Bajaj Dominar 400 sources power from a 373.2 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection that is capable of producing a maximum power of 34.5 bhp while developing a peak torque of 35 Nm. A 6-speed gearbox with standard slipper clutch feeds power to the wheel.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 costs INR 1.48 lakh for the standard variant and INR 1.62 lakh for the ABS model (both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The Bajaj Dominar 400 is way off its sales target of 10,000 units per month, clocking 1200-1500 units per month.
