The Ssangyong Tivoli-based Mahindra S201 sub-4-metre compact SUV will reportedly launch in January next year. The S201 will rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon.
Latest spy images sent to us by P.E. Robinson show that the top-end variant will offer an electric sunroof. Images of the base variant don't show this feature. The new model will become the third car in its segment, after the Ford EcoSport S and the Honda WR-V to offer a factory-fitted sunroof. It may be noted that the manual sunroof offered on the Tata Nexon is as an optional accessory.
Other features on the marketing poster of the S201 would be the LED headlamps and tail-lamps, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, keyless entry, engine start-stop button, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system and seven airbags.
Powering the Mahindra S201 is an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine that is about to make its debut on the Marazzo MPV. The oil burner will reportedly output 121 bhp of maximum power and will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol variants of the Vitara Brezza-rival will be powered by a new 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that will offer an exciting 140 bhp of maximum power.
