2018 Maruti Ciaz's (facelift) LED combination lights teased

Maruti Suzuki has released another teaser image of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift) - this time showing its LED rear combination lights - ahead of the reported August 20 market launch. Bookings for the 2018 Ciaz opened today at all NEXA outlets for a deposit of INR 11,000.

The 2018 Maruti Ciaz gets the all-new 1.5-liter VVT petrol engine which develops 103 bhp and 138 Nm of torque.

The exterior of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz will feature LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, a new grille, redesigned bumpers and new machined alloy wheels (16-inches on the Alpha variant and 15-inches on the Zeta variant). Inside, the updated sedan is confirmed to get a revised dashboard with lighter faux wood trim, a new instrument cluster with a color screen for the multi-information display and other "convenience features" like the adjustable rear headrests.

The major update is under the hood as the petrol Ciaz swaps its 1.4-liter engine for the larger 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder VVT unit developing 103 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic and offers the SHVS mild-hybrid technology for increased fuel efficiency. The 2018 Ciaz petrol MT delivers 21.56 km/l and the petrol AT 20.28 km/l, a recent report said.

The 2018 Ciaz diesel, at launch, will be powered by the tried-and-tested 1.3-liter DDiS developing 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. Later in the year, Maruti will reportedly introduce its self-developed 1.5-liter diesel engine which will meet BS6 emission norms.

All variants of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz get ABS, EBD, dual front airbags and projector headlights. The top-end variant will feature LED headlights.

With an updated exterior and interior, and fuel-efficient engines, the 2018 Ciaz will put up a tough fight in the mid-size sedan segment which sees the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Ciaz fight for the leadership position every month.
