Several NEXA dealers have started accepting bookings (unofficially) for the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift), and some have also started advertising the same on the social web. The 2018 Ciaz is reported to have its market launch on August 20, and the company has also sent out media invites to experience the updated sedan.
To recap, the 2018 Ciaz gets a new grille, redesigned bumpers, and notably LED headlights and LED brake lights. Inside, a new multi-information display, adjustable rear headrests and a lighter faux wood trim for the dashboard are the reported changes.
However, the highlight of the 2018 Ciaz will, reportedly, be its all-new 1.5-liter K15B VVT petrol engine combined with the SHVS mild hybrid technology and a start-stop system. As compared to the outgoing model’s 1.4-liter engine producing 91 bhp and 130 Nm, the new motor is reported to output 103 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. The petrol engine will be offered with the existing 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic 'boxes, however, fuel efficiency has gone up, reportedly. The 2018 Ciaz petrol manual will return 21.56 km/l and the petrol automatic 20.28 km/l, a report last week stated.
The 2018 Maruti Ciaz diesel will not be available at launch but will be available later this year, according to reports. Nothing new is expected with the diesel variant. The 1.3-liter DDiS unit developing 89 bhp and 200 Nm will continue serving duty with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
