According to a report on CarToq, the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift) when launched will be the most fuel efficient in its class thanks to an all-new petrol engine.

The report states that the 2018 Maruti Ciaz automatic will continue sporting the 4-speed torque converter.

The report states that the 2018 Ciaz petrol manual will return 21.56 km/l and the petrol automatic 20.28 km/l. For reference, the outgoing Ciaz with the 1.4-liter K-Series petrol engine delivers 20.73 km/l with a manual and 19.12 km/l with the 4-speed torque converter automatic.

Key to the improved fuel efficiency is the new 1.5-liter K15B VVT petrol engine and the SHVS mild hybrid technology with start-stop system. Interestingly the report states that Maruti will continue the 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic on the Ciaz facelift.

Further, CarToq reports that the 1.5-liter K15B engine delivers 103 bhp and 138 Nm of torque, as compared to the outgoing model’s 1.4-liter engine producing 91 bhp and 130 Nm of torque.

Though the diesel variant of the 2018 Ciaz will, reportedly, be unavailable at launch, it will carry forward the 1.3-liter DDiS unit from which develops 89 bhp and 200 Nm and will come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Other changes on the 2018 Ciaz include LED headlights, a new grille, redesigned bumpers, LED brake lights, a lighter faux wood trim for the dashboard, adjustable rear headrests and a new multi-information display in the instrument cluster.
