The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted once again at a dealer yard ahead of its launch on April 18. The Mahindra XUV500 facelift will bring exterior and interior updates along with a retuned diesel engine.
As evident from the images here and those shared earlier, the XUV500 facelift gets a new chrome finish grille with chrome studs. It is flanked by revised headlamp clusters featuring horizontal LED strips in place of S-shaped ones. The top-spec 2018 Mahindra XUV500 W11 grade gets 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels while the lower trim(s) get the same 5-split spoke rims as the outgoing model. There is a new wedge shape tail lamp cluster at the back accompanied by a redesigned tailgate with a wider license plate recess. The XUV500's cabin gets updated with leather trim on the dashboard, silver trim on more elements and new tan leather/leatherette upholstery.
The petrol engine introduced in December last year will be carried forward without any changes. According to a recent report, the power and torque output of the 2.2 L mHawk diesel engine will go up to 155 hp and 360 Nm respectively. Mahindra will continue to offer the XUV500 with AWD, and 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
Expect prices to start at around the INR 13 lakh mark (ex-showroom Delhi). While prices of most trims are not likely to change by much, the top-end grades could get costlier by around INR 50,000. The Mahindra XUV500 will continue to rival the likes of the Tata Hexa and entry and mid-level trims of the Jeep Compass.
