The 2018 Mahindra XUV500’s launch is just around the corner. The new model will come with a beefed up diesel engine among other changes. Team-BHP forum member RavenAvi has managed to get the new engine specifications out well ahead of Mahindra’s announcement.
The 2018 Mahindra XUV500’s 2.2L mHawk diesel engine produces 155 hp and 360 Nm of torque, 15 hp and 30 Nm respectively more than the outgoing model’s 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. We are yet to know if the 1.99-litre version of the old engine has also received the same level of increments. This downsized unit develops 140 bhp and 320 Nm of torque in the old model. The 2.2-litre mHawk petrol engine was introduced just back in December last year and is unlikely to have any changes.
The MY2018 update has brought another facelift to the Mahindra XUV500. While the previous minor refresh was concentrated mainly on the front, this one brings substantial changes to the rear as well. New six-slot radiator grille, tweaked headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, triangular tail lamps and redesigned tailgate with a wider license plate recess are among the main exterior changes. Interior changes include silver trim on more elements and new tan leather/leatherette upholstery.
