Will be positioned against the Royal Enfield Himalayan and BMW G 310 GS.
The KTM 390 family is expected to gain another member in the coming years. Started with the street naked KTM Duke 390 and followed by the track-centric KTM RC 390, KTM will be going back to its roots with an Adventure tourer - the KTM 390 Adventure. It has has been spotted testing by Cycle World, where more spyshots are featured.
The larger spoked wheels are possibly 19 inch up front and 17 inch in the rear. The petal discs look great on the motorcycle and draws clear inspiration from their Enduro range. The upswept exhaust resembles the canister seen in the new 2017 KTM Duke 390 (and 2017 KTM RC 390). Features like slipper clutch, ride by wire and switchable ABS can be expected to be standard.
At the heart of the bike will be the same 373.2 cc single cylinder mill possibly coupled with a 6 speed gearbox. The output can be expected to be in similar lines with the rest of the family though, KTM will have to tune the engine a bit to suit the needs of an adventure tourer.
The test unit spotted features long travel forks in the front, which will undoubtedly lead to an increase in seat height over its more road-focused siblings. Weight saving will continue to be a prime agenda for the KTM 390 Adventure. The all-terrain tyres give hint that the bike will have some level of off-road capability.
The KTM 390 Adventure is expected to be showcased at the 2018 EICMA as a 2019 model. It is reported to be made-in-India with a high-degree of localization, and would be exported to global markets. The 390 Adventure will rival dual-sport bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan, BMW G 310 GS and Kawasaki Versys X300.
