India will be the manufacturing base for the motorcycle though.
It was shown at the 2016 Auto Expo, spied testing on Indian roads, confirmed to be launched in India in October this year, and yet when the global website for the BMW G310R model went online recently, India wasn't listed as one of the markets.
The BMW G310R is a spawn from the TVS-BMW joint venture announced in 2014. According to the venture, both companies will jointly manufacture several models, of which the G310R is the first and BMW's variant. TVS will also have its own version of the G310R (TVS showcased the TVS Akula concept at Auto Expo 2016).

The G310R sports a 313 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces a healthy 34 PS at 9,500 and peak torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The four valve engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. Weighing 158.5 kg, the bike gets disc brakes at both ends and ABS as standard. Top speed is said to be 143 kmph. Interestingly, the BMW G310R runs on 95 octane petrol though adaptations could be made for the India-spec variant to run on lower-quality fuel.
