2016 Hyundai Elantra to launch in India today

Could be priced between INR 15 Lakhs and INR 20 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Motor India Ltd will conduct the market launch of the all new 2016 Hyundai Elantra today. This is the first major product launch for the Korean manufacturer this year.

The sixth gen Hyundai Elantra is the first major product launch for the Korean manufacturer this year.

At launch, the Hyundai Elantra will offer both petrol and diesel engine options spread across five grade levels: S, SX, SX AT, SX(O), SX(O) AT. The new Elantra petrol is powered by a 2.0L MPI four cylinder engine producing 152 PS and 190 Nm, while the diesel variant packs the familiar 1.6 CRDi engine with 128 PS and 265 Nm of torque.

Transmission options include a six-speed manual gearbox as standard in both variants, while a 6-speed automatic gearbox is optional in SX grades. As for exterior dimensions, the new Elantra measures 4,570 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,455 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, making it 40 mm longer and 25 mm wider than the outgoing model.

The Elantra will be one of the most feature-packed premium sedans in the segment, featuring projector headlamps, ‘boomerang’ LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy rims, LED taillights, shark fin antenna, parking sensors with reverse camera, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay support, satellite navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, anti-pinch sunroof and start/stop button.
