Polaris-owned Indian Motorcycles made a ceremonious comeback to business by unveiling its new range of cruisers at last year's Sturgis Rally, an annual motorcycle event that takes place in Sturgis, South Dakota in the US. The oldest American bike maker will celebrate its first anniversary of the new innings by unveiling the 2015 model lineup at this year's Sturgis Rally that is scheduled to take place from August 4 to 10.
The Indian Motorcycles' portfolio consists of the Indian Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and the Chieftain cruisers. The 2015 model year upgrades are expected to add subtle updates to the lineup leaving the mechanical setup untouched. The updated models are expected to offer a wider range of accessories and customization options.
The Indian Cruisers are powered by the Thunder Stroke III V-twin 1,811 cc engine which was developed from scratch. The motor develops a peak torque of 138.9 Nm at 2,500 rpm and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Earlier this year, the legendary American cruiser maker made its foray into India with its entire lineup with prices starting at Rs. 26.5 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi). Last month, the brand inaugurated its first dealership in the country at Gurgaon, Haryana.
Since the cruisers are imported as CBUs from the US, the 2015 Indian models are expected to make it to India soon after their international launch.
Indian Motorcycles' itinerary for the Sturgis Rally 2014 is given in the press release below.
