Indian Motorcycles launched in India, prices start from 26.5 lakhs

Indian Motorcycles, America’s first motorcycle company established in 1901, announced its arrival in India today with three motorcycles.

  • Indian Classic – 26.5 lakh
  • Indian Vintage – 29.5 lakh
  • Indian Chieftain – 33 lakh

Polaris acquired Indian Motorcycles in 2011. All bikes will be CBU import and the first dealership is in Delhi.

The Indian Chieftan is powered by a 1,811 cc engine that develops 139 Nm @ 2,800 rpm. It is matched to a 6-speed transmission.

The bike measures 2,571 mm x 1,011 mm x 1,529 mm (L x W x H), sporting a 1,669 mm wheelbase, with a 21-liter fuel tank and 629 kg gross vehicle weight.

The Indian Vintage is powered by a 1,811 cc engine that develops 139 Nm @ 2,800 rpm. It is matched to a 6-speed transmission.

The bike measures 2,634 mm x 1,011 mm x 1491 mm (L x W x H) with a wheelbase of 1,730 mm. It sports a 21-liter fuel tank and a 572 kg gross vehicle weight.

The Indian Classic is powered by a 1,811 cc engine that develops 139 Nm @ 2,800 rpm. It is matched to a 6-speed transmission.

The bike measures 2,629 mm x 1,011 mm x 1,172 mm (L x W x H) with a wheelbase of 1,730 mm. The bike gets a 21-liter fuel tank and a 572 kg gross weight

All bikes have ABS, Cruise control, cast aluminium frame and keyless ignition. More images and details to follow.

    629 kg gross vehicle weight, that’s heavier than an F1 car.

    Now imagine you meet a crash with that bike and your leg gets trapped under it. Or simply you loose control while parking and falls. You’d need handful of support to lift the bike up. I wouldn’t want to ride a bike that weights 10 times my weight.

    There got to be some error in spec sheet.

    Are you sure that they have so much weight..? 572 and 629 Kg? I think it must be in Pounds instead of Kg..
