Polaris Industries owned Indian Motorcycles launched itself in the country in January this year. Yesterday, Indian inaugurated its first ever dealership in India, which is located in Gurgaon, Haryana. The company announced that it will open two dealerships in India by the end of this year.
The showroom was inaugurated by Mr. Bennett J. Morgan, Global Chief Operating Officer, Polaris Industries Inc., Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. Sandeep Bansil, Dealer Principal, Indian Motorcycle.
The showroom can display up to 9 motorcycles, and the entire range of Indian Motorcycles including the Indian Classic, Vintage and Chieftain will be available at this outlet.
After unveiling its new range of motorcycles in the USA in August 2013, Indian launched these products in India earlier this year. Prices start at INR 26.5 lakhs for the Indian Chief, INR 29.5 lakhs for the Indian Vintage and go up to INR 33 lakhs for the top-end Chieftain (ex-showroom Delhi prices).
All three motorcycles are powered by a newly-developed Thunder Stroke 111 engine (as the engine displaces 111 cubic inches or 1,819 cc). A peak torque of 161.6 Nm is produced at 3,000 rpm and a 6-speed gearbox is used. Production of these motorcycles take place in Spirit Lake, Iowa, USA.
