Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Sanket Tibdewal, spotted the 2015 Audi TT on test in Mumbai recently. The TT seen here is the base TFSI variant and not the sportier TT-S which gets more aggressive styling for the bumpers and fenders.
Audi revealed the third generation TT at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. European sales of the sportscar are announced to start later this year, and an Indian launch should take place in late 2014 or by early 2015.
Based on the MQB platform, the new TT is 50 kg lighter compared to its predecessor. At the time of its launch, Audi will offer three variants of the sportscar - TT, TT-S and TT diesel.
The TT and TT-S are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which produces 230 bhp and 310 bhp respectively. The TT diesel's 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI engine makes 184 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and DSG automatic.
The TT is brought into India as an imported vehicle, and it competes with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz SLK Class and the BMW Z4. The sportscar's body shell is made in Ingolstadt, Germany, and the final assembly takes place in Hungary.
Competitors: BMW Z4, Mercedes SLK
Expected Price: INR 60-70 lakhs, ex-Showroom
