Mr Michael Perschke, the Managing Director of Audi India, can also be described as a curious follower of Indian Autos Blog. Here’s Micheal sending out an informal video message to our readers as well as fans of the four-rings brand. Perschke spoke to us last evening right after the launch of the refreshed Audi TT in Mumbai.
He’s perhaps the only head honcho in India who logs into Facebook frequently and doesn’t mind sharing his views, be it on Shoeb’s renderings or answering questions enthusiasts have on the Audi cars.
It will be a long wait for the launch of Audi’s Q3 which is supposed to be launched in June. However, to keep its fans happy and to keep the buzz rolling from the Auto Expo, the Ingolstadt champion brought the updated version of the Audi TT to India.
The launch took place at the 2012 Mint Luxury Conference in Mumbai. Followed by a fantastic fashion show by Manish Malhotra, the car was unveiled for the Indian market.
The Audi TT that was launched yesterday is actually a facelifted model of the second generation. The second generation was introduced way back in 2006 and received a comprehensive set of changes in 2010.
The new Audi TT is slightly longer, has a revised look and better performance and fuel economy. Interestingly, It is based on the same platform as the Skoda Yeti.
The Coupé model of the Audi TT would set you back by a cool Rs 48.36 lakhs. But for that moolah what do you get?

Audi India will launch the TT sportscar on the 23rd of March. Not much is known about this CBU model which is expected to be priced at around 60 lakh rupees to lock horns with Porsche’s Boxster and the Mercedes Benz’ SLK Class. Unlike the A3, A4 or A6, this model is primarily for brand shaping purposes with an estimated sales target of not more than 50 units/years.
Under the hood, Audi could introduce the new 3-liter supercharged motor, used on the A6 and A7 models, producing around 300bhp, coupled to a 7-speed twin-clutch gearbox. It could receive a revised MMI infotainment system and LED headlights as an optional extra.

Speculation has it that the Audi R4 (a.k.a. baby R8) is the ongoing hot topic in the Audi Conference room. Which is very true because, Audi has green-lighted its plans to produce an R4 model, months after it was supposedly put on hold by VW’s new Porsche overlords. The mid-engined R4 will slot above the Audi TT but steer clear of the R8’s performance territory. The R4’s styling will also [ Read More ]
