The 2015 Audi TT was snapped testing in Mumbai recently by Automobili Ardent. The third generation of the sportscar had its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show this year, and European sales are expected to start later this year.
The TT spotted here is the TFSI petrol variant and not the more powerful TT-S, which has also been spotted testing in India. It gets power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 230 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The same engine on the TT-S makes 310 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Audi will also offer a diesel variant with a 2.0-liter TDI engine good for 184 hp and 380 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual and DSG are the transmission choices in the new TT.
Based on VW's MQB platform, Audi claims the new TT is up to 50 kg lighter than its predecessor. The sportscar also benefits from Audi's new multipurpose instrument system which replaces the analogue instrument cluster with a large display supporting features such as navigation and music in addition to the tachometer and speedometer readouts.
The TT is a CBU product in India, and a launch is expected to happen by the end of this year or early next year.
