After being spotted in Mumbai and Bangalore, the 2015 Audi TT was last seen in the city of Chennai by an Indian Autos Blog reader. Seen here are two test mules of the new TT, the black being the regular TT petrol, while the silver is the TTS petrol.
The new TT, which happens to be the third generation of the small sportscar, was unveiled to the media in early March this year, on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show.
Built on the VW Group's MQB platform, the sportscar is now 50 kg lighter and has a stiffer chassis than its predecessor. Inside, the new TT gets Audi's new cockpit design which features a large multi-purpose display in place of the analogue instrument cluster.
Audi announced the new TT with two petrol engine options and one diesel option. A 2.0-liter TFSI is available in two states of tuning of 230 hp/370 Nm and 310 hp/380 Nm. The more powerful petrol is called the TTS. The diesel TT is powered by a 2.0-liter TDI outputting 184 hp and 380 Nm of torque. All engines are available either with 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG transmissions.
The new TT is a model Audi India will certainly launch, either towards the end of this year, or early next year. The sportscar will be brought into the country via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route and will compete with the BMW Z4 and the Mercedes SLK Class.
