The 2014 BMW 5 Series range including the performance flagship M5 is on display for the first time at a motor expo here at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The range topping 2014 BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 petrol motor that has in its reserve a massive 560hp. Power is laid on the road via an eight-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The 5 Series LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) as the German carmaker likes to call it, is basically as nip and tuck affair. The regular variants be it the Sedan or the Touring, receive a restyled front bumper with lowered airdam and a chrome ornament for the foglamp surrounds. The trademark kidney grill is surrounded by new contour lines.
The rear gets narrower taillights, an extra body crease, and a thin line of chrome. New exterior color options and alloy wheel designs conclude the exterior changes.
The interior receives new equipment and trim options. The iDrive multimedia infotainment system gets chrome surrounds and a touch pad. The storage capacity of the cubby holes around the cabin have increased. At 500 liters, the new 5 Series GT gains 60 litres of extra boot space thanks to a newly designed rear.
The updated 5 Series family now has a new entry-level 518d four-cylinder diesel variant. The new base variant draws power from a 2.0-litre TwinPower diesel engine that produces 143 bhp and delivers a fuel economy of 4.5 L/100km (22.22kpl) while emitting 119g/km of CO2.
