Will launch on January 24.

A new teaser image has been doing rounds on various social media channels, which reveal that Yamaha is launching a naked street fighter on January 24, 2017. Yamaha claims that they are ‘unveiling a new chapter’ on that day.

Yamaha FZ 250 teaser
Yamaha India has commenced teasing its upcoming street naked, expected to be called as Yamaha FZ 25 or Yamaha FZ 250.

Expected to be the Yamaha FZ 250, which has also been called as the Yamaha FZ 25, the bike's engine may have a displacement between 250 to 300 cc based on a single cylinder engine. Spy pictures spotted so far have confirmed that the bike will be an air cooled unit assisted by an oil cooler.

The engine resembles the shape of the unit seen in the Yamaha Fazer 250 sold in Brazil. The 249.45 cc in the Fazer 250 is capable of producing 20.7 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 20.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The Indian market though will need a far higher power output if Yamaha wants a piece of pie of the 200 cc plus segment. So there is a very good possibility that Yamaha India could have tinkered with the powertrain.

The headlamp resembles the shape of the one seen in the Yamaha Xabre. The Yamaha FZ 250 also gets premium upside down forks, split seats, disc brakes all around and an FZ family inspired exhaust canister.

Yamaha Fazer 250
The powertrain seen in the spy pictures have matched with the shape of the one in the Yamaha Fazer 250 sold in Brazil.

Expect this new street fighter from Yamaha to be priced between INR 1.4 lakhs to INR 1.7 lakhs.
