The Volvo XC40 that was launched earlier this month has received over 200 orders within 15 days of its launch. This announcement was accompanied by the introduction of two new trims in addition to the R-Design that was made available at the time of launch.
The prices of the Volvo XC40 have gone up. The R-Design grade that was launched at INR 39.90 lakhs (ex-showroom) will now retail for INR 42.9 lakhs (ex-showroom). The XC40 Momentum becomes the entry-level trim priced at INR 39.9 lakhs (ex-showroom), while the Inscription sits at the top of the pile priced at INR 43.9 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
The basic Momentum trim misses out on keyless entry with remote tag, heated front seats, driftwood inlays, power operated tail gate, adaptive cruise control, paddle shifters, Park Pilot Assist, Harman/Kardon audio system, inductive charging for smartphone among others. The top-end Inscription trim features power foldable rear headrests, crystal gear lever knob, and a different set of alloys.
All variants of the Volvo XC40 get panoramic Sunroof, AWD, front radar-based safety tech, leather upholstery, 9-inc centre touchscreen for Sensus infotainment system, Hill Descent Control, and rear parking Camera. 18-inch alloy wheels are available in case of all three trims but in a different design.
The Volvo XC40 is sold with just one engine option - a 190 hp and 400 Nm 2.0 L diesel engine. An Aisin-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission and a Haldex AWD system are standard across all grades. It's the first product based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform developed jointly by Volvo owners Geely.
Only three colour options are available - Crystal White, Bursting Blue, and Passion Red. The Volvo XC40 rivals the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz, GLA, Mini Countryman, and the Audi Q3.
