The Vespa Urban Club 125 has started to arrive at dealerships ahead of an imminent launch. The new entry-level Vespa has been priced at INR 72,190 (ex-showroom Pune).
The Urban Club 125 joins the Notte 125 in the 125 cc Vespa range. It will be available in four colour options, namely red, yellow, grey and light blue. Many elements which the Notte 125 has in chrome are in black on the Urban Club 125. Black rear-view mirror housing, black front fender garnish, black highlights to the apron, black wheels and a black border surrounding the tail light give it a sportier look.
Mechanically, the Vespa Urban Club 125 is identical to the Vespa Notte 125. It uses a 124.49 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers a max power of 9.5 PS at 7,250 rpm and a peak torque of 9.9 Nm at 6,250 rpm and a CVT. It rides on 10-inch wheels. Braking department includes 150 mm and 140 mm drum units at the front and rear respectively, while the safety net of CBS will come as standard. Piaggio won't sell a disc brake variant of the Urban Club 125. The company had started rolling out CBS and ABS variants of its scooters from the start of the year. Suspension department includes a single-sided arm hydraulic front unit and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear.
The Vespa Urban Club 125 competes with the likes of Suzuki Access 125, TVS Ntorq 125 and the Honda Grazia 125 in the Indian market. In other updates from Piaggio, the company will soon expand its Aprilia scooter range with the Storm 125. This model also has started to reach showrooms, and it is priced at INR 65,000 (ex-showroom).
