Will be TVS Motor's new flagship motorcycle.
TVS Motor's highly anticipated performance motorcycle, the production version of the TVS Akula 310 concept from Auto Expo 2016 will be launched this fiscal year (FY 2016-17), Mr. K.N. Radhakrishnan, President and CEO, TVS Motor, has confirmed, as per a report from Economic Times. This indicates that the launch will probably happen in late-2016 or early-2017.
The TVS Akula 310 concept's production version will reportedly be named TVS Apache RTR 300. It's based on the same platform co-developed in collaboration with BMW Motorrad and currently used by the BMW G310R. The TVS Apache RTR 300 will be TVS Motor's first series production fully-faired motorcycle.
The TVS Apache RTR 300 will be powered by a 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which is also co-developed by the Indo-German alliance. Currently employed in the BMW G310R, this motor churns out 34 hp (25 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 21 lb.-ft. (28 Nm) of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed transmission.
