The Toyota Vios was snapped testing in the city of Bengaluru by Twitter user 'rangasub'. The Vios has not been confirmed for an Indian launch by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), and its testing here may be a part of a global validation program.
The sedan is sold in about 80 countries, and Toyota's Thai manufacturing facility serves as an export hub for the Vios. Dimension wise, the Vios is a shade larger than the Etios, but does not overshadow the more premium Corolla.
It measures 4,410 mm in length, 1,700 mm in width, 1,475 mm in height and 2,550 mm in wheelbase, putting it in the league of the Honda City and Maruti Ciaz, the current best sellers in this segment. Like the Etios, the Vios is a featherweight at 1,075 kg.
Powering the Vios is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine capable of 107.5 hp at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm at 4,200 rpm. A 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic are the transmissions of choice.

TKM's senior officials have said that 2015 will be the year of consolidation for the company, with no major launches planned apart from the Hiace. However, next year will be a busy one for the Japanese carmaker as it replaces the Innova and Fortuner with their next generation models.
