Seen in these spy images is the interior of the Tata Nano Twist F-Tronic which comes with an automated manual transmission (AMT). Tata announced and showcased the Nano AMT at the Auto Expo this year, and when asked about its market introduction, the company's president for passenger vehicles business, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, told Indian Autos Blog that it would be launched "soon".
Unlike the regular Nano which gets a 4-speed manual gearbox, the Nano AMT comes with five forward gears. The system is made and supplied by Magneti Marelli and features an electro-hydraulic mechanism which uses an electronic control unit to supervise clutch usage. Tata claims that the Nano F-Tronic is 15-20 percent more efficient than a conventional automatic vehicle.
The Nano F-Tronic concept at the Auto Expo also came with refreshed exteriors and interiors. The new variant is likely to get a new bumper with a redesigned grille arrangement, and the headlights would be given smoked lenses. The rear of the refreshed Nano sports a similar bumper design as the front of the car.
Inside, the design of the steering wheel is new, and the same can be seen in the spyshots here. Mechanically, the Nano AMT is expected to continue using the same engine, although Tata have planned for a supercharged variant on the small car, one report said
