2.2L VariCOR engine and ESP confirmed for Tata's flagship product.
The Tata Hexa spyshots in this story represent three different Hexa vehicles, though the interior image is of the Tata Hexa XMA or Tata Hexa XTA variant with the 6-speed automatic transmission. As seen in the image, the Hexa AT does not get the Super Drive Mode which appears as a large rotary knob on the center console of the SUV.
The Super Drive Mode allows the driver to toggle between four driving modes - Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. Tata announced last week that the Super Drive Mode will work in conjunction with the ESP system to regulate the engine of the Hexa, confirming that in Dynamic mode, the ESP of the Hexa will allow for some amount of 'drifting'.
The spyshots also show a top-end XT variant of the Tata Hexa, and another top-end variant in a Black shade. As reported earlier, these variants get 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, chrome outlines for the windows, dual exhaust tips and LED indicators on the wing mirrors.
To recap, the Tata Hexa will be powered by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder VariCOR 400 diesel engine capable of 156 PS at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,700-2,700 rpm. It is expected to cost between INR 12 lakhs and extend to around INR 18.5 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai.
