Similar engine options as the Zest compact sedan.
Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Gokulraj of MyCopie, spotted the Tata Bolt test in Chennai recently. The Bolt, which is the second car from the rejuvenated Tata Motors, is expected to launch after the Zest sedan, which has its market introduction tomorrow.
Based on the Vista, the Bolt gets a redesigned exterior and interior which is similar to that of the Zest. Like its compact sedan sibling, the Bolt too was announced at the Auto Expo earlier this year with two engine options, a petrol and a diesel.
The petrol engine is Tata's 1.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged Revotron making 85 PS (83.8 bhp) and 140 Nm of torque paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel Bolt makes use of the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter Multijet engine to produce 75 PS (73.94 bhp) and 190 Nm of torque and uses a 5-speed manual gearbox too. An automated manual transmission (AMT) could be offered on the Bolt diesel much like the Zest diesel.
Apart from other B-Segment premium hatchbacks, the Bolt will rival the new Elite i20 which launches today.
