The Suzuki Palette is the tallest of the tall boy family of small cars from the Japanese small car guru.

The Palette was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo last year (on the right and below) to gather public opinion. The small car falls under the Japanese Kei car regulations but its sheer height and packaging efficiency offers a MPV rivaling interior room.

The car comes with sliding rear doors which makes for a breezy ingress and egress. The tall boy is present in Japan since early 2008 and Suzuki has sold 57,552 units of the Pallete in the first 10 months of 2012 while its cousin Nissan Roox (also manufactured by Suzuki) sold 46,342 units.

Suzukifan.com reports that the next generation version of the Palette is getting ready for a 2013 launch in Japan. The new model features totally new front and rear fascias while the boxy side profile remains. After all the interior roominess is its USP, not the looks.

The next generation model uses high strength steel just like the blue eyed boy Wagon R and as a result the it becomes lighter by around 70-90kg. The new Palette is expected to offer best in class fuel efficiency of around 28 kpl which is a commendable 8 kpl improvement over the current car, thanks to the frugal 660cc tiny petrol engine.

The rendering shows how the face of the car will look like. The hatchback will sport LED daytime running lights which probably will make it the first Kei car to do so. The wheelbase will be increased by 25mm to 2,425mm. The overall length is 3,395mm while the height measures at 1,735mm.

The Palette comes out as a utterly practical city car and with its specifications inherently abiding by the Indian sub-four meter excise policy, it could easily get rid of the aging Maruti Zen Estilo and fill its shoes in future.

Looks may polarize opinions and we wonder what was the feedback Maruti got when they showcased the Pallete to Indians at the Delhi Auto Expo.
