For those who don't know, the Toyota Vios is the sedan brother of the Yaris. The new generation is on the verge of making its debut and this is how it would look.
Here are the clear undisguised spyshots of the upcoming sedan which was caught by our friends at Noticiasautomotivas.com.br. The sedan which would sit above the Etios is a far cry from its mundane looking predecessor.
The design is a clear inspiration of the Dear Qin sedan concept that was showcased at the Beijing Auto Show last year. The front fascia gets the smiley grill which debuted in the Etios but looks much richer with a chrome strip that bridges the headlamps.
The headlamps are large and angular and the biggest feature to be borrowed from the Dear Qin concept is the large trapezoidal air dam. The rest of the real estate in the bumper is occupied by simple fog lamps.
The side profile is conservative with minimal change in the sheet metal contour. The rear window has a plastic extension to have a visual balance around the C-pillar area.
The rear sports rhomboidal wraparound tail lamps and there is a prominent chrome strip here as well. The boxy boot makes it instantly recognizable as a Toyota.
The Brazilian version of the car is expected to have a 1.5 litre flex fuel engine with a CVT gearbox. The car is likely to be locally built alongside the Etios. The market positioning would be between the Etios and the Corolla.
The new Toyota Vios is most likely to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 20th.
