Duster-based MPV is key to doubling the market share of the company.
The Renault Lodgy MPV was caught testing in Chennai yet again by an Indian Autos Blog reader. The Lodgy, which is touted to be Renault India's next big ticket launch, is expected to arrive sometime early next year, and will compete with the likes of the Honda Mobilio and Toyota Innova.
The Lodgy measures 4,498 mm in length, 1,751 mm in width, 1,695 mm in height and 2,810 mm in wheelbase. For the Indian market, the MPV will be powered by the tried-and-tested 1.5-liter four-cylinder K9K diesel engine which is seen on almost all of Renault and Nissan's products. The engine will likely be offered in the 85 PS (83.8 bhp) power state paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Like Renault India's Duster crossover, the Lodgy too will be made at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, with a high level of localization. Products like the Lodgy are expected to double Renault India's market share from the current 2.6 percent to 5 percent in the next two years.
