Renault India has joined the growing list of manufacturers in India set to increase prices January 2018 onwards. The company has announced that the prices of the Renault Kwid, Renault Duster, and Renault Lodgy will witness an increment.
Prices of the aforementioned products will increase by up to 3%. Renault has cited rising input and freight costs as the primary reasons for the price hike. The Renault Captur launched last month has not been included in the list of models that will get more expensive January 2018 onwards, however.
As per the company's official website, the Renault Kwid has a starting price of INR 2.62 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) currently. The Kwid range tops out at INR 4.55 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the Climber AMT variant.
Renault offers the Kwid with a choice of two engines - a 3-cylinder 799 cc 54 PS petrol and a 3-cylinder 999 cc 68 PS petrol engine. While both engines are paired with a 5-speed manual as standard, the latter can also be had with a 5-speed Easy-R AMT.
As reported in October, the Renault Kwid family is set to gain three new members over the coming years. These will include a CMF-A+ based compact MPV that will arrive next year, and a Kwid based EV scheduled to land in India by 2022.
