In our last article dealing with the Renault Duster, we familiarized you with all the details on the Dacia Duster, a rebadged Duster that launches in the UK in January 2013.

Both Dacia and Renault versions of the Duster will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan alliance plant at Oragadam, Chennai, from where it will be exported to the UK. The UK prices, in ballpark terms, are already revealed (check them out here) and we would like Renault India to price it identically here as well.

Since January this year, Renault is working non-stop, testing mules in and around Chennai and if you’ve been following IndianAutosBlog.com regularly, you would have seen enough clicks of the same. Yesterday, our good friend Gokulraj of ZapStore.com, spotted the Duster test fleet near Tambaram along with a Renault Fluence. The Duster was shown at the Delhi Auto Expo back in January, but Renault withheld technical specifications and variants.

The Duster is based on the Logan platform and uses many components from previous Renault models. The parts bin is a mix of the Clio, Logan, Sandero, etc.

The Renault Duster is expected to be launched in India somewhere around Diwali sporting a 1.5L petrol engine (from the Sunny's engine bay) or a 1.5L diesel engine. We expect Renault to price the Duster in the 8-10 lakh rupee range.
