BMW has announced that the X7 is sold out in India for 2019. The company had launched the flagship SUV in July 2019 for a starting price of INR 98.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It hasn't disclosed how many units it has sold so far and plans to sell by the end of this year, though. Deliveries of the bookings made now will commence in January 2020.
Only a few days back, Mercedes-Benz had announced that it delivered 600 units on Dhanteras (last Friday). The festive season spike should provide some relief to luxury automakers. The huge demand of luxury SUVs such as BMW X7 and Mercedes GLE shows that Indian buyers aren't shy on spending big if the product seems fit for their needs.
"For us, X7 is only the beginning. BMW India has the freshest portfolio in the luxury car market and all our latest launches are generating tremendous demand" says Rudratej Singh, president and CEO, BMW Group India.
The BMW X7 is sold offered with two engine options. One is a 3.0-litre straight-six, turbocharged petrol unit which churns out 340 PS of maximum power and 450 Nm of torque. The other engine is a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-diesel unit that delivers 265 PS and 620 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission and an AWD system are offered as standard.
