Last month, a next-gen SsangYong Korando (SsangYong C300) prototype wearing production body was spied testing. Now, a new batch of spy shots has surfaced online, partially revealing the future SUV's interior.
The next-gen SsangYong Korando's interior has a more contemporary design with some influences from the latest SsangYong Rexton. New three-spoke steering wheel, rectangular centre AC vents in place of vertical AC vents, silver highlights for the centre console are some of the highlights revealed by the interior spy shot. SsangYong has added electric parking brake with an auto-hold function in the redesigned SsangYong Korando. Overall, the interior will look more upmarket in the new generation model.
The next-gen SsangYong Korando will be based on an extended version of the Tivoli’s X100 platform. It will reportedly come with a new 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine and an all-new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The 1.5 L petrol engine model could feature mild-hybrid tech for higher fuel efficiency.

The all-new SsangYong Rexton is a crucial product for SsangYong. With this model, the South Korean automaker could launch its first EV, which it hinted with the SsangYong e-SIV concepts, and even enter the U.S. market. A rebadged Mahindra version could take the form of a Jeep Compass rival in India, but whether Mahindra sees the potential for such a product in its line-up or not is unknown as it already has the XUV500 in that space.
