The next-gen 2020 Mahindra Scorpio has been spied on several occasions by now. Using details revealed by these spy shots, IAB's master designer Shoeb Kalania has produced a rendering to preview the design of its front three quarters.
The Mahindra Scorpio came into existence back in 2002, and till date, it has been getting only evolutionary update. Now, for the first time, it is going to get fully revamped from bumper to bumper. It is going to carry a revolutionary overhaul which will completely change the way it looks.
As the above rendering shows, the Mahindra Scorpio will feature a more assertive, hexagonal radiator grille with chrome vertical slats and curvy-ends in the next generation. Its projector headlamps will have turned slightly angular. The lower-grille at the front will be wider and the new front bumper will house fog lamps in dark casing. The skid plate, too, will be new.
Unlike the old Mahindra Scorpio, the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio will have a slightly hunched back stance. Also, its beltline will have a noticeable rise from the middle of the rear door. The back glass will be slightly raked to give it a more modern look and on the sides. The redesigned model will carry radical changes, but it will have the DNA of the original Scorpio.
As revealed by interior spy shots, the all-new Scorpio will make use of a taller and wider dashboard layout. It will feature a new touchscreen infotainment system, and certain bits, including the steering wheel, gear knob, control stalks and the instrument cluster, could be shared with the existing Mahindra Marazzo, helping the company save in development and production costs.
The all-new Mahindra Scorpio will be powered by a newly developed BS-VI 2.0-litre diesel engine which is said to deliver 160 PS of maximum power. It will be linked to a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. A 4WD system could be optional. There will be a petrol engine option too, probably 1.5L or a 2.0L turbocharged unit.
