India Kawasaki Motors has launched the new locally made Kawasaki Ninja 300 in India at a price of INR 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Ninja 300 now comes equipped with dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard.
The new Kawasaki Ninja 300 features two new colours - Lime Green/Ebony and Candy Plasma Blue - and graphics and gets locally produced parts, which has resulted in a massive price reduction of INR 62,000. The company continues to import the engine and chassis from Thailand, while parts like body panels, alloy wheels and tires are localized. The bike features MRF Zapper tires that replace the IRC tires.
Speaking about the launch, Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors, said -
As per Kawasaki’s product portfolio Ninja 300 is entry level sports bike. We have observed that customers start with Ninja 300 and then upgrade to the next class. Therefore, Ninja 300 happens to be our bestselling product in India because of the affordable price. We just started localizing for Ninja 300 ABS as a part of our expansion plan. Initiatives like “Make in India” have also been encouraging factors in increasing localization. The localization gives us a benefit to set a very competitive price, because of which we can offer many new customers an opportunity to enjoy our product and also start experiencing the fun of supersports riding.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 rivals the KTM RC 390 and the TVS Apache RR 310, which costs INR 2.37 lakh and INR 2.23 lakh respectively (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The Ninja 300 becomes the most affordable twin-cylinder motorcycle in India as compared to its other rivals like Yamaha YZF-R3 and the Benelli 302R.
Powering the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is a 296 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that is tuned to generate 39 PS of maximum power at 11,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 27 Nm at 10,000 rpm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox, while a slipper clutch is standard. The motorcycle comes shod with telescopic front forks while the rear gets an adjustable mono-shock. The company is offering a “3 years unlimited mileage warranty” for early bird customers.
