Autos Arena reports that the 7-seat Maruti Wagon R MPV (codenamed Maruti YJC) will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. The report's source further divulges that the compact MPV will go on sale in March 2016.
Maruti has already imported a couple of Wagon R MPV prototypes for R&D testing. It also falls inline with reports stating that the YJC will be introduced in India, although the launch is mentioned to take place in September 2016. Maruti has already asked its vendors to start supplying parts, and the first mules could start hitting the roads in the near future.
The overall length of the 7-seat Wagon R stands at 3,700 mm, which is 101 mm longer than the regular Wagon R's 3,599 mm length. Its closest rival, the Datsun Go+, comes in at 3,995 mm in length. The YJC will be positioned beneath the Ertiga, but above the Eeco, which measures 3,675 mm in length.

Import documents have revealed that one of the prototypes brought to India for testing packed a 1,197 cc petrol engine (K-Series petrol engine), while the other had a 1,248 cc diesel engine (DDiS diesel engine). As for transmissions, a 5-speed manual is certain, while a 5-speed AMT from the regular Wagon R could also be on the cards.
