At the 2018 Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki gave us a glimpse of the design direction its future compact cars will follow via the Maruti Future-S Concept. IAB's automotive illustrator's rendering below imagines the Future-S in its production form.
The concept form features complex LED lighting, oversized tyres, and other bits that are unlikely to make to the production. Our rendering retains the overall crossover profile of the car while infusing it with more production-ready bits like halogen headlamps, a simpler bumper design, and smaller, fuel efficiency-friendly wheels. The Maruti Future-S render retains the flat, high set bonnet, upright A-pillars, and body cladding characteristic of crossovers. The rear suicide doors have been replaced by more conventional ones.
Unveiling Concept Future-S, Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said,
Compact is the natural choice of India’s car customers. Compact needs a fresh design language, one that is bold, confident and dynamic. Our designers have created this brand new design, aggressive on the outside, and bold and inviting interiors. Nothing like this has ever been attempted before on a vehicle this size. ConceptFutureS will define the next generation of design for compact vehicles in India.

The Maruti Future-S concept is still more than a year away from reaching the production stage. If reports are to be believed, the concept will spawn a sub-4 m crossover positioned below the Vitara Brezza.
