Would likely cater to the commercial car-rental segment.
Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Amit Chaudhry, snapped the Mahindra Verito EV ahead of its market launch announced to take place this year. As part of its 9-launch strategy, Mahindra plans on launching the electric Verito in the current quarter, according to reports.
The Verito EV, according to M&M’s Executive Director, Dr. Pawan Goenka, would be positioned in the commercial car-rental segment, where companies like ZoomCar and SelfDrive offer self-hire car rentals to individuals.
Mahindra could not have asked for better timing to launch the electric sedan with the government having rolled out the FAME policy (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric vehicles in India) with incentives ranging from INR 11,000-1,38,000 for electric and hybrid four-wheelers over 4 meters in length.

Plans for launching an electric Verito were first shown at the 2012 Auto Expo, which debuted the Verito EV concept on the pre-facelift model. At the previous edition of the Auto Expo in 2014, Mahindra showed the Verito EV on the facelifted model, which takes 7 hours to fully charge its batteries. With a maximum range of 80 km, the Verito EV can hit a top-speed of 85 km/h, claims Mahindra.
