Sources tell Indian Autos Blog that the Mahindra Scorpio facelift will likely launch in the festive season months (September - November) of this year. Prototypes of the refreshed Scorpio have been sighted on tests for over a year now, and Mahindra is finally ready to put the car on the market.
The exteriors of the car will see design changes coming in the form of restyled headlights, grille, bumpers, alloy wheels and taillights. The taillight clusters could get LED elements, and the headlights of the top-end model would use projector lamps.
Inside, the refreshed Scorpio will get a completely new dashboard and instruments. The plastic quality and fit-and-finish are expected to be improved over the older model, and the features list will also be longer. The steering wheel would come from the more expensive XUV500.
Under the hood, the 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine will continue unchanged, though minor improvements cannot be ruled out.
The Scorpio, despite its age, continues to bring sales volumes for Mahindra with average monthly sales accounting for around 4,400 units in the first six months of 2014.
