Could be priced from INR 4 lakhs.
The Mahindra S101 (codename) is reported by Economic Times to be slated for launch in the third week of January. The hatchback that is believed to be named the Mahindra XUV100 will rival the budget hatchbacks like the top-end variant of the Renault Kwid, the Maruti Wagon R and the Chevrolet Beat. The starting price of the XUV100 could be about INR 4 lakhs, ex-Showroom, reports have stated.
The Mahindra S101 gets a high-stance with simple halogen headlamps, a slender grille section, small foglamps, pillar-mounted rear-door handles, horizontal taillamps, rear foglamps with chrome surrounds, a rear wiper and a roof-lip spoiler.
The interior is expected to get a 5+1-seat arrangement with a foldable centre seat at the front row. The rear seats have been spotted with three individual head rests. The dashboard gets Black as a base colour and is complemented by silver and piano black trims on the centre console and the door panels. The gear lever emerges from the centre cluster and the AC control knobs are stacked vertically near the left.
Powering the Mahindra XUV100 are expected to be two three-cylinder engines including a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel motor. Both are expected to be mated to five-speed manual transmissions and the diesel model could receive a five-speed AMT unit as an option.
