Mahindra's first 110 cc scooter codenamed G101 is in the process of pre-launch testing. Here are the latest spyshots of the Honda Activa rival by Indiancarsbikes.
The new Mahindra scooter appears to adopt unisex styling and the earlier spyshots revealed its front apron which has large turn indicators and air vents. From the looks of it, the upcoming scooter is likely to be not very adventurous on equipment to keep the costs at bay. Mules seen so far don't even have alloy wheels or a front disc brake.
The G101 is expected to borrow its 110 cc motor from the Centuro commuter in the same state of tune. The engine produces 8.5 hp and 8.5 Nm of torque, and would be mated to a CVT gearbox in the scooter.
Mahindra's existing scooters Rodeo RZ, Duro DZ and Flyte are powered by 125 cc engines while the Kine employs a 72 cc motor. A 110 cc contender is vital for the growth as the segment-controller Honda Activa, was India's best selling two wheeler in March 2014, showing the volumes that can be had.
The Mahindra test mule appears to be production ready suggesting that the launch could come anytime soon. Given the company's lifelong habit of launching products at shocking prices, the new scooter is expected to undercut its rivals Honda Activa, Suzuki Let's, Yamaha Ray, TVS Wego and Jupiter.
The coming months would be full of action for Mahindra 2 Wheelers as their 300cc Mojo and a new Centuro variant are also nearing launch.
