Earlier this month, the company confirmed that the Discovery Sport, which is essentially a replacement for the Freelander, will come with the option of a third row seat for a 5+2 seating configuration. Land Rover released images of the prototype wearing a creative camouflage in the buildup to the September unveiling.
The Discovery Sport will enter production at Land Rover's Halewood facility. The facility received investment of 200 million euros (INR 1,641 crores) to increase its workforce and accommodate its production.
The Discovery Sport is expected to be powered by Jaguar Land Rover's new Ingenium family of petrol and diesel engines which will also power the Jaguar XE entry-level sedan. Land Rover say that they have tested the SUV for roughly 750,000 miles (1.2 million km).
