FCA had postponed the Jeep Compass Trailhawk’s launch in India from July this year to early next year. Recently, a trio of the off-road-oriented variant’s test mules was spotted in Jaipur, courtesy Facebook group 4x4India.

The Trailhawk variant will debut the 9-speed automatic transmission and the more advanced Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4 system in the Indian-spec Compass.

The Jeep Compass' Trailhawk variant will offer a higher off-roading capability than the standard variant that is available in Sport, Longitude, Limited and Limited Plus grades. As visible in the spy shot, it features a black anti-glare hood decal and unique 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The exterior exclusives will likely include even unique bumpers, red tow hooks, grey front grille surround, fog lamp bezel, mirrors, window surrounds and roof rails, Trail Rated badge on the fenders and a Trailhawk badge on the tailgate.

Inside, the Trailhawk variant should finally feature what the standard variants miss - the Uconnect 8.4 NAV infotainment system. Unlike the other infotainment systems available in the Indian-spec Jeep Compass, this one offers satellite navigation. The Trailhawk variant may feature all weather floor mats and unique seat covers with Trailhawk branding and red stitching as well.

The Trailhawk variant will debut the 9-speed automatic transmission in the Indian-spec Jeep Compass. FCA will sell it exclusively with the 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine. Reports say that it has delayed the launch as it is working on upgrading the SUV's motors to comply with the BSVI emission norms. The BSIV version of the turbodiesel engine delivers 173 PS and 350 Nm of torque.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will have a better approach, breakover and departure angles and running ground clearance. While the standard variant uses the Jeep Active Drive 4x4 system, the Trailhawk variant will benefit from the more advanced Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4 system with a 20:1 crawl ratio and low range as well as a five-mode Jeep Selec-Terrain Traction Management System that includes the exclusive Rock mode.
