IAB readers Rohit Shah, Abhishek Joshi and Kamal Dev have spied the 2017 Jeep Compass undergoing road testing in India this month. The Compass is probably in the final testing phase as FCA plans to launch it in India in the third quarter of the year (July-September 2017).
The Indian-spec Jeep Compass measures 4,398 mm in length, 1,819 mm in width and 1,667 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,636 mm and a ground clearance of 178 mm. The second generation Jeep Compass, announced with 17 powertrain combinations globally last year, shares the Small-Wide 4X4 platform with the reportedly India-bound Jeep Renegade and the Fiat 500X.
Indian Jeep Compass buyers will get to choose from a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 160+ hp and 250 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine developing 170 hp+ and 350 Nm of torque. 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic are the transmission choices. The Jeep Active Drive four-wheel drive system is exclusive to the diesel model.
Projector headlamps with daytime running lights, cornering fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric parking brake, capless fuel filler, six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Rollover Mitigation and Traction Control are the features of the Indian-spec 2017 Jeep Compass revealed so far.
