The Hyundai Venue is off to a great start in India, which is its first market worldwide. Over 17,000 units have been booked already, and over 80,000 customers have showcased an interest to purchase.
With a starting price of just INR 6.50 lakh*, the Hyundai Venue has dethroned the Tata Nexon to become India's cheapest B-SUV. Undoubtedly, it's a much more sophisticated product than any of its competitors, and that, matched with such aggressive pricing, is enough to break all existing sales records, provided that the production is able to cope up with the strong demand. Initially, the monthly production is going to be just around 8,000-9,000 units a month.

The Venue is based on the HND-14 ‘Carlino’ concept from Auto Expo 2016. Hyundai invested over $100 million and 4 years in development to make the Venue a reality. The company will sell this model even in developed markets, such as Australia, the USA and Canada. Touted as a connected SUV, it is equipped with Blue Link connectivity suite which offers 33 connected vehicle features, 10 of which are specific to the Indian market. Some of the main features of the Blue Link suite include remote engine start/stop, remote climate control with engine start, real-time vehicle tracking, geo-fence alert, auto crash notification and assistance, panic notification and stolen vehicle tracking.

The Hyundai Venue is available in India with three engine options. The entry-level engine is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit producing 83 PS and 11.7 kg.m (115 Nm) of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed MT. Second in the list is a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit good for 120 PS and 17.5 kg.m (172 Nm). It can be had with a standard 6-speed MT or an optional 7-speed DCT. The top-of-the-line option is a 1.4L turbocharged diesel unit developing 90 PS of power and 22.4 kg.m (220 Nm) of torque. It comes married to a 6-speed MT.
The fuel economy rating of the 1.2L petrol engine model stands at 17.52 km/l, while the 1.0L engine petrol engine model delivers a fuel economy of 18.27 km/l (MT)/18.15 km/l (DCT). The 1.4L diesel engine model returns 23.70 km/l.
