After announcing that the new Hyundai Tucson's market launch on October 24 was postponed to another date due to 'unavoidable reasons', Hyundai India has confirmed that it will go on sale on November 14.
Several reports believe that the reason for the postponement of its market launch is attributed to the good response of the new Hyundai Elantra in the Indian market, and Hyundai may not want to break the momentum by bringing in the Tucson SUV, which is expected to be similarly priced.
The Tucson will be Hyundai's third SUV in its portfolio, slotting right between the Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Creta. Like the Elantra, the new Tucson will be locally assembled so that it can be priced competitively. Reports estimate prices to range between INR 17 lakhs and INR 22 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi).

The new Tucson will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants at launch. The former is powered by the Elantra's 2.0-litre MPI four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 152 PS & 195 Nm of torque, while the latter is strapped with a 2.0-litre CRDi four-cylinder diesel engine in 136 PS and 184 PS outputs. Both variants will come equipped with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, while an all-wheel drive system could be offered on select models.
