Twitter user Arpit Rathi has spotted a heavily camouflaged test mule of the Hyundai QXi ahead of the new vehicle's world premiere at the 2019 New York International Auto Show next month.

The Hyundai QXi was previewed by the Hyundai HND-14 ‘Carlino' Concept at the Auto Expo 2016.

The Hyundai QXi will flaunt the company's signature cascading grille and the 'Composite Light' multi-tier front light arrangement. The lighting setup will comprise LED DRLs at the hood-level and projector headlamps at a lower position. Its profile will be highly reminiscent of the Creta, with a similar DLO. The latest spy images give us a clear look at the new model's dual-tone machined alloy wheels, brushed aluminium roof rails, dual-tone paint scheme with a black-painted roof, and the shark-fin antenna.

The new spy images show even the glow pattern of the LED tail lights. The rear-end is likely to also sport a roof spoiler and a chunky bumper.  On the inside, the Hyundai QXi is expected to offer various class-leading features, including first-in-segment ventilated front seats.  The new model is said to feature even an electric sunroof. That said, both these features will likely be restricted to the top-spec trim.

The Hyundai QXi will be available with three engine options - 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol, 1.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol and 1.4-litre diesel. The turbo-petrol motor produces a maximum power of 100 hp and a peak torque of 172 Nm and will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. All engine variants are expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.

The Hyundai QXi will be launched around the end of Q1,2019 and will rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon.

The Hyundai Styx will be the second sub-4 metre SUV after the Mahindra XUV300 to offer disc brakes on all wheels. All trims of the new model will feature dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt reminder (SBR), reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts and high-speed warning buzzer. The top-spec trim is expected to even offer Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, side airbags, and reverse parking camera with dynamic guide lines.
