New compact SUV and crossover will further increase HMIL's market share.
This spyshot shows two of Hyundai Motor India Limited's main launches for 2015 - the Hyundai ix25 compact SUV and the Hyundai Elite i20 Cross. While the former is expected to launch in the festive season, the i20 Cross will arrive in the first quarter of this year, according to reports.
HMIL sold 410,000 units in 2014 (its highest sales till date), and targets to sell more than half-a-million units in 2016. Products like the ix25, i20 Cross and an MPV arriving in 2016 will be key to achieving that sales goal.
Both cars are reported to come with a localization content of 90 percent, indicating very competitive prices. In case of the i20 Cross, prices are expected to be around INR 50,000-75,000 more than the Elite i20, and with features such as LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, roof rails, new alloy wheels, skid guards and body cladding, buyers could get their money's worth.
The ix25 on the other hand will be priced along the region of the Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio. The car is on sale in China, where it is loaded with features like airbags, ABS, TCS, EBD, 4WD, Hill Start, climate control, powered seats and so on.
According to HMIL, its lone Chennai plant is capable of meeting production demands for the immediate future. However, reports state that the company is studying for a new manufacturing facility in the state of Rajasthan for the long term.
