The Hyundai Eon went on sale in Sri Lanka this month with prices starting at 2.195 million Sri Lankan Rupee (INR 10.1 lakhs). The hatchback is exported from Hyundai's Chennai facility and sold in Sri Lanka by Hyundai Lanka Private Limited.
The Eon is available in Sri Lanka with its 814 cc three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 56 PS and 7.6 kgm of torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, which achieves 21.1 km/l in the ARAI tests.
The small hatchback is offered in a total of five variants. The top-end Sportz trim gets features such as an integrated music system with AUX-in and MP3 compatibility, keyless entry, driver side airbag, foglights and front power windows. The Eon is available in six body colors in Sri Lanka.
Last month, Hyundai India launched the Eon with a more powerful 1.0-liter engine to fight competition coming from the Maruti Alto K10 (due for a complete makeover next year) and Datsun Go. The Eon 1.0-liter uses a three-cylinder 1.0-liter engine to make 69 PS and 9.6 kgm of torque. Compared to the regular Eon, the 1.0-liter variant achieves 20.3 km/l. Hyundai has not introduced this variant in Sri Lanka.
Apart from the 1.0-liter Eon, Hyundai India also sells the small car in an LPG variant.
