According to a report on AutoAlgerie, Hyundai will launch the Creta in the Algerian market in 2016, as a rival to other compact SUVs such as the Peugeot 2008, Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and the Skoda Yeti.
The Creta will be exported by Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) which confirmed at the launch (July 2015) that it would export the compact SUV to markets in Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa. Earlier this month, the Creta went on sale in Nepal at the NADA Auto Show, with prices starting at NPR 39.96 lakhs (INR 24.87 lakhs).
The Creta is available in the Indian market with three engine options, two diesel engines and a sole petrol motor. The petrol engine is a 1.6-liter Dual VTVT pushing out 123 PS and 151 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel lineup consists of a 1.4-liter CRDi with 90 PS and 220 Nm, and a 1.6-liter VGT CRDi generating 128 PS and 265 Nm of torque.
The 1.4-liter diesel gets a 6-speed manual transmission as does the 1.6-liter diesel. However, a single variant of the 1.6-liter diesel is available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Currently, the Creta remains a front-wheel drive model, even though the ix25, on which the Creta is based, gets 4WD capability in the Chinese market.
